SEPTEMBER 19TH, 2025
IT'S A CELEBRATION
If you’ve never set foot in Madrid before, get ready—this city has a lot to offer! It’s got all the charm, history, and energy of a major European capital, but without the overwhelming tourist crowds of, say, Paris in peak selfie season. Madrid is home to world-class art museums, grand tree-lined boulevards, and an endless supply of tapas bars where you’ll probably lose track of time (and count of how many croquetas you’ve eaten).

Since Madrid sits at one of the highest altitudes of any European capital, the air is dry and the weather in September is simply chef’s kiss—warm but not scorching, with highs around 28°C and lows of 16°C. It’s that perfect time of year when summer is still holding on, but with just enough of a breeze to enjoy a glass of sangría on a terrace without melting into your chair.

Ah, Spain in September—arguably the best time to visit! The summer crowds are finally retreating, the scorching heat is dialing it down a notch, and the whole country is basking in that perfect end-of-summer-but-not-quite-fall glow. Whether you're a history buff, a foodie, a beach bum, or someone who just wants to justify eating tapas five times a day (we support you), Spain has something for you.

If you're staying around Madrid, take advantage of the cooler weather and hop on a quick train ride to Toledo (aka, the city of three cultures, sword-making, and marzipan), Segovia (home to a Roman aqueduct so well-built it puts IKEA furniture to shame), or Cercedilla, where you can swap city life for fresh mountain air and some epic hiking trails in the Sierra de Guadarrama. Because nothing makes you feel more alive than earning your post-hike tapa with a view.

Heading south? You can't miss the Andalusian trifecta—Seville, Granada, and Córdoba—where flamenco, stunning palaces, and tapas await. Seville’s got the Alcázar (which looks straight out of a fairy tale), Granada is home to the legendary Alhambra, and Córdoba’s Mezquita is so breathtaking that even the most seasoned travelers stop mid-walk to gape.

And if you’re in the mood for something completely different, take a road trip up north, where Spain basically transforms into another country. The Basque Country is an absolute must—with cities like San Sebastián, where pintxos (aka Basque tapas) will make you question why you've been eating anything else your whole life. Then there’s Bilbao, where the Guggenheim Museum is as much a work of art as the exhibits inside.

Keep going along the northern coast and you’ll find rolling green hills, wild rugged cliffs, and charming villages straight out of a movie. The Costa Brava and Barcelona offer a perfect mix of culture, beaches, and “Did I just walk onto a Gaudí fever dream?” moments. And if you’re feeling extra adventurous, head to the Pyrenees, where you can trade city strolls for mountain hikes, fresh air, and the satisfaction of knowing you’ve earned that next round of tapas.

So whether you’re here for history, food, beaches, hikes, or just an excuse to drink wine at lunch (we won’t judge), Spain in September is calling your name. ¡Buen viaje! 🚀
